2. 10 Tips for How to Learn Fast as an Entrepreneur
There are a few things you can do to learn fast as an entrepreneur.
1. Find a mentor or coach who can help guide you on your journey to help you stay on track
First, seek mentors and experts in your field. These people can teach you a lot and help you avoid mistakes. Find someone who you respect and admire, and ask them for advice.
If you cannot afford to hire a mentor or coach, there are plenty of resources available online, such as books, blogs, podcasts, and courses. Be sure to do your research and find reputable sources of information. This will help you learn new concepts and keep up with the latest trends.
One way I find useful is to read a book summary so that I can quickly get the gist of what the book is about and decide if it’s something I want to read in full. I include this as a segment of my morning routine to make the most of my time.
I like to find books that are related to the business I am in so that I can learn about new trends and strategies. For example, if you’re in the e-commerce space, a book like “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries would be a great choice. I have compiled 18 Best Books To Read For Entrepreneurs For Business Success that you can find more ideas from.
3. Find out your best learning style and go with the flow
A learning style is how each person absorbs, organizes, and keeps information. Different people have different learning styles. Some people learn better by reading, others by listening, and others by doing.
Knowing your learning style will help you choose the right resources and study methods so that you can learn more effectively. There are three dominant learning styles: visual (or spatial), auditory (or aural), and kinesthetic (or tactile).
To find out your learning style, you can take this quiz. Once you know your learning style, you can find resources that are tailored to your needs. For example, if you’re a visual learner, watching video lectures or reading infographics may be more effective for you than listening to audio recordings.
There are different learning styles, and there is no one right way to learn. The important thing is to find a method that works best for you and stick with it. Experiment with different methods until you find one that works best for you.
For example, I enjoy listening to blog posts and ebooks instead of reading them because I can do other things while I listen, such as driving or working out. This allows me to learn and multitask at the same time, so this works for me. You can watch the video below to learn how to do it free:
4. Take courses
One great way to learn fast is to take courses (whether online or offline). Although there are a lot of free resources online, there is still no substitute for learning from an expert. If you can find a reputable course on the subject you want to learn, it will be worth your investment.
I have taken many courses, both online and offline, and I can say that they have all been helpful. For example, I took a course to learn about how to sell on Amazon.com.
The value of the course is that it lays out step by step so you can learn systematically rather than spending time all over the place trying to piece things together yourself. It also holds you accountable since you’re paying for it and there is a deadline to complete the course.
I would recommend finding a course that is relevant to the business you’re in or the skill you want to learn. For example, if you want to learn about affiliate marketing, Wealthy Affiliate is a great choice as it is a comprehensive course that covers everything from start to finish. You can read more about it in the following post: The Best Affiliate Marketing Classes for Beginners
One way to learn more about entrepreneurship and business is to join online groups and communities of people who share your interests. This will allow you to connect with others who can share their experiences and advice, and it will also allow you to ask questions.
Some good places to start include Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, and Reddit forums. When I started selling on Amazon after taking a course, I could learn from other experienced coursemates as the course came with a Facebook group.
I have started a Facebook Group Ecommerce with Penny myself to provide support and advice to those who are starting their businesses or side hustles. You are welcome to join my group if you’d like!
I then studiously followed those discussions and topics I was interested in and learned a lot from there before even starting my business. I could learn from more experienced entrepreneurs and get my questions answered quickly. This saved me a lot of time and helped me avoid making mistakes. You can watch my video below on how to do this on Facebook:
6. Improve your note-taking skills
To help myself remember what I read, I usually take notes by writing them down. I started with linear notes and over time I realized it is useful to use mind maps to take notes. I use mind maps to take notes on everything- from business books to lectures. The photo below is an example of my Mind Map notes on an ebook Thought Vibration I learned.
This method helps me remember and understand information better, and it also allows me to see the connections between different concepts. If you’re not sure how to get started with mind mapping, you can read my post Mind Mapping for Business Ideas: Why You Should Use It.
Another point on note-taking is you can include an implementation column on how to apply it in your business or life. This will help you not only remember what you learned but also take action on it.
7. Be strategic about what you learn
One important point to remember when learning is to be strategic about what you learn. Don’t learn everything at once, but focus on one or two things that will have the biggest impact on your business.
You can also think about what you need to learn to take your business to the next level. For example, if you want to start an online store, you would need to learn about things like website creation, marketing, and product selection.
But if you want to grow your business, you may need to learn about more advanced topics like digital marketing, SEO, and e-commerce strategies. The bottom line is that you should always think about what you need to learn to reach your goals. And then make a plan for how you’re going to learn it.
One way to do this is to create a learning roadmap– which is simply a list of the things you need to learn and the order in which you plan to learn them. This will help keep you focused and ensure that you are making progress on your goals.
8. Set aside time each day to learn: create a learning schedule
This is one important point that is often overlooked. When you are an employee, the company you work for takes your training care of. But when you’re an entrepreneur, it’s up to you to make sure you are constantly learning and growing.
So you need to make learning a priority and schedule it into your day to learn something new just like any other important task. This can be done first thing in the morning, or whenever you have some free time during the day.
You should try to schedule the learning time at the time you are most alert so that your learning would be effective. For me, this is in the morning. I usually do my learning in the morning, before I work on my other tasks.
This allows me to have the rest of the day to work on my businesses and tasks. I have found that it's helpful to set a daily routine for learning. This way, you'll be more likely to stick to it and you'll also be able to maximize your time. You can read more about creating a morning routine.
9. Work on projects to implement what you learn
Implementing what you learn is essential to making sure that you are getting the most out of your learning. If you simply read a book or attend a lecture, but don’t apply the information to your business or life, then you will not get much benefit from it.
So try to create projects or tasks in your business that you can work on putting what you’ve learned into practice. This could be something as simple as setting up a blog to practice writing skills or creating a business plan to put your new marketing strategies into action.
The key is to find a way to use what you’ve learned so that you can see the results and improve your skills.
10. Stay organized and keep track of your progress
One final tip for learning fast is to stay organized and keep track of your progress. This will help you see how far you’ve come and what you still need to work on. I like to use a note-taking app to keep track of the books I’ve read, the courses I’ve taken, and the skills I’ve learned.
This helps me keep track of my learning progress and also has everything in one place. Whatever system you use, make sure it works for you and that you will use it.
I also use file folders to organize my learning resources by topics. This helps me to find what I need quickly and also to see what I have already learned.
Conclusion
When you're an entrepreneur, it's up to you to make sure you are constantly learning and growing. Now that you know some tips on how to learn fast as an entrepreneur, it’s time to apply them to your own life. Remember, the key is to make learning a priority and schedule it into your day. You should also work on projects to implement what you learn and stay organized so you can keep track of your progress.
If you follow these tips, you’ll be well on your way to learning fast as an entrepreneur. Just remember to focus on what you need to learn, create a schedule, and make time for implementation. And don’t forget to track your progress so that you can see how far you’ve come.
